A World Away

The family raced into the hospital,

They arrived from across the country,

A man lay dying on the bed,

The man who took the family's daughter,

And sister to one,

He had suffered from cancer in jail,

The family prayed for that man,

He resisted their compassion,

Cursed himself,

But inside,

As his neared it's end,

He finally accepted their forgiveness,

His heart of stone cracked,

Split,

And softened,

Just for a moment,

While they held his hand,

A tear spilled out of his life long dry eyes,

And with a final breath,

He said I accept Him,

Forgive me,

And the machine came to life beside him,

A loud noise,

Then a flat line,

The family wept,

It was done.
