Small Town Coroner
Back home!! So it went alot better after the fishing. The questions were normal and I felt very at home with everything. Sarah was "pleased as punch" as she put it. She was definately dreading going back to work. The flight was quick and after visiting with Midnight we agreed to meet at Arnie's for dinner. She went home to change and I had to make up for lost time with Midnight.
He was so excited to see him that he jumped up in the air and barked. That's not normally him at all. We tossed the frisbee and a few sticks. I took him for a long walk and by then I figured I better get moving alone. Midnight didn't care much for that but once I told him I was meeting Sarah he let me go. Dogs go figure.
So I met Sarah at Arnie's letting Annie get the whole story about the trip while I was just left to fill in a few details. She smiled and laughed and then..I relized I loved her more than I could say. Not just because of the trip but the joy that she brought into my life and the emptiness she filled in me.
Later on that night I told her what my thoughts were. She smiled and tears ran out of the corners of her and eyes. Then she looked into my eyes and said,"I feel the same way. I thank God for you each time I pray." Then I cried.
I came home a new man that night. I felt younger and stronger than I had in years. I took Midnight for another walk and went to sleep with a smile on my face.
Early the next morning I began to make some plans for the future.
