Small Town Coroner
Pastors are really helpful people. I went over for my visit and had a wonderful meal with his wife and of course him. After the blackberry cobbler we went out and stretched our legs a little bit by going for a walk. He and I were just talking casually and then he stopped. He asked me if I had ever heard how he met his wife. I didn't and he told me the story.
He had never really dated much and as he was finishing up seminary he began a habit of stopping into a quiet family diner in the small town he grew up in. It was in the south some where. He ate alone and the woman who waited on him took his order was very nice everytime he stopped in. He noticed her name tag(Mary) and they began to strike up a conversation each time he came in.
She was working her way through college and her major was financial planning because her family had not really do so well in that department and she wanted to help them and other people. So then he liked her even more because he was one of those people who needed help. Well one day there was a really bad storm and the power went out in diner. Pastor began to leave when Mary came up to him soaking wet. Her car wouldn't start and she needed a ride back to the dorm. So he drove her to the dorm and as he said the next part he smiled really big and said "I asked her if she wanted a ride until I could get her car fixed and she said yes."
Well he got the car fixed a week later but he said "She didn't want to drive it to work anymore and we started dating." Now they have been married over 25 years. He told me you never know who you might fall for or what person God will put in your life all you can do is be ready.
It was then that I realized I had exactly what I came for.
