Small Town Coroner
The sun poured over me this morning telling me it's a good day to be alive. I awoke stiff but satisfied that yesterday I had carved out my second Midnight. Today I have to pick up the paint to give him his black coat. Not too glossy a duller finish at best. It's a life size version of Midnight I snuck in and measured him one night after he fell asleep. Work has been much slower which is a good thing for everybody in town. Arnie wants me to start doing carvings for the restaurant. He said he might even be willing to sell some for me. Midnight is now welcome to eat out back on a porch built above a pond behind the restaurant. There are alot of canadian geese out on the water most days. I caught a trout last weekend there. So trout was on the menu that day. Arnie and I are thinking of adding it to a weekend menu. Annie wants to build a bed and breakfast next to the restaurant. Arnie has enough on his hands but I liked the idea. I am in the process of building a few benches for the church this week too. It's good to be busy right now. Midnight is constantly hovering around the garage getting a wiff of all the different types of wood. He marked his territory once and that was the only time lucky for him. He got shut out of the garage for a couple days. Well time is quickly passing today and I need to get back to things.
