Small Town Coroner
Today I awoke with sweat poring out of every inch of my body. My nerves were fried and my eyes were bloodshot. I would propose tonight. I had it all planned out in my mind dinner out of town and a carriage ride from a friend when we got back and then a walk to a place that I know better than anyone. I just hope she says yes. I mean she liked me enough to take me to Ohio so that's good. My heart hammered in my chest all morning.
Alright so dinner went off without me giving away anything and she loved the carriage ride. Then she was surprised that I wanted to go for a walk and she was ready to go home but I pressed her to just take a walk. When we got there she knew something was up. We stopped at the tree where my wife and daughter took their last breaths and I took her hand, looked into her eyes.
Then I told her "In this very spot part of me died. A part that I would never have thought that I could have again. You make me so happy and you have breathed fresh air into my life. Will you help me to live again? Sarah will you marry me?"
After a tear escaped her left eye and she turned her gaze at the tree. She looked back at me and with a qiver in her voice and a smile on her face she said, "Yes, I will." We both cried and hugged each other as hard as we could for what seemed like a life time. Then we each looked into each others eyes and had a kiss that made all other kisses pale in comparison.
Thank you God.
We didn't waste much time in calling everyone we knew on our phones and quickly putting together plans for the wedding that is going to take place next month. God is good!
